Day 12 - Oiling the ends

Today, I found my hair a little unmanageable, so applied a little oil and the hair instantly started listening to me :P
So, yeah am going to plait my hair all day. :)
Oh btw, I got a new comb from health and glow. Totally worth the softness it gives me.! Whoah!! Its a must have :)

Do you guys have any other comb/products that you love and cant live without.

Day 10 - A hair wash

Had a very bad hair day, so took a hair wash.
Oiled and massaged the scalp with loads of warmed coconut oil and left it in for an hour.
Massaged the Shampoo into the scalp and applied conditioner lengthwise.

Washed with plenty of water.
My hair started becoming very very dry towards the end of the day. So, took a few drops of oil and applied lengthwise just before the bed.

Day 7 to Day 9

Well,
I am a working woman, and simply could not find enough time to write down a daily post. I am combining here whatever I did during Day 7 to Day 9.

Oiled my ends with coconut oil. Found the hair sticky on Day 8 and took a bath just with a diluted shampoo.

Day 6 - Lazy goose

Well, I was very tired today and god only knows why.

Just combed my hair and put it into a bun where the ends of the bun were tucked inside for protection. I found that my hair is a little oily so skipped the oiling part and went to bed.

Neverthless, i already have a feel that the hair nearer to the nape have started their growing term. And I am happy with that coz its very difficult to manage them.

Day 5 - Oiling my ends

After the hair mask, the hair has an appearance of increased volume.
The coconut flakes that i was worried about in my scalp have all cleaned up while combing, and now i just have benefits of the mask with me.
I generally plait my hair, and was surprised to see that it no longer looks like a rat's tail and has a more filled up appearance. :)

Loving my hair and the hair fall has become so low.
Earlier, after every hair bath, i used to shed so much , perhaps it was more pulling than natural shedding. I am  totally surprised at home much the coconut is helping me.

Day 4 - A new hair pack

Well, Its raining cats and dogs and I am not able to get my usual henna pack ingredients.
So, i decided to try out a new hair pack.

Recently, I have read so much about how the coconut oil and coconut products are so very helpful in preventing dryness related to hair. Now that i have been taking care of hair for the past 3 days, I can see that my hair has become really very manageable. So, to add to this care, i want to bring in a coconut hair mask.

Coconut Hair Mask Experience

1. For my Waist length hair, I need about a little lesser than half a coconut.
2. Grate the flesh of coconut, or cut it using knife and grind it in a mixer.
3. Grind , grind, grind with little water, some curry leaves and some fenugreek seeds. Add water little by little and make sure that the mixture is somewhere near a fluffy consistency.

4. Oil your hair, Segregate your hair into partitions and start applying this lengthwise.
5. Shower your hair for at the minimum 20 mins. Rinse the hair and then apply shampoo or conditioner. (I used diluted shampoo for this wash).

* Applying this is very messy. The coconut felt quite rough and some of them did fall on the floor while applying.
* Its very difficult to wash this off. After standing under the shower for nearly 20 mins, i could get this off my lengths, but these are still stuck in my roots and very difficult to remove. Curly hair girls should not venture into this one.

* Its given volume to my hair and made the length extremely soft. So straight hair /limp hair gals can definitely give this a try.

My hair is not very shiny, neither very dull, but has improved a lot, texture-wise. Loving the volume it has added to my length. Given the results, I dont mind it being messy or being stubborn to wash. My hair is loving this, So do I . :)

Thanks! :)

Day 3 - Coconut oil

Well,
My camera broke down and am no longer able to take any pics. :(
So, I am just going to list down the things that i put in my oil.
Hoping that the same helps.

My Coconut Hair oil recipe

1. Coconut Oil
* prevents protein loss in hair
* unlike most oils, it doesn't just sit on the outside of hair. It actually penetrates the shaft.
* because coconut oil is absorbed into the hair shaft, it is fairly easy to wash out.

2. Fenugreek seeds / Methi seeds
* Helps to prevent premature greying
* Induces a cooling effect to the body - note that this not any tingly kind of sensation usually got from menthol, it cools down the body

3. Rose Petals
* Rose petals tone and tighten the scalp with gentle astringent action. And of course, gives out a beautiful aroma.

4. Karisalankanni / Bhringraj / False Daisy
* prevents hair loss

5. Hibiscus leaves / Flowers
* is a natural shampoo plus conditioner.

6. Amla / gooseberry
* prevents greying
* induces sleep and helps in relaxing the body and mind
* Arrests hair loss

7. vembalam pattai
* prevents greying of hair.
* It turns the oil bright red and over time into a really rich thick maroon-ish oil.

8. Black cumin seeds
* provides lustre
* provides strength

9. Curry leaves
* prevents premature greying

10. vetti ver
* perfumes the oil, very calming.

Make sure that the leaves / flowers are semi dry.
Add all these to a bottle, preferably a glass bottle. Add Coconut oil till it stands just an inch above the quantity of the herbs added.
Leave it over night and start using for application on the scalp / ends or as desired.
Make a small batch - just to be used near to a month, till you understand how the oil works out for you.

Hope this helped.
